Among the most elegant are the Christmas markets of the Kempinski Hotel and the delightful La Virginia urbanisation just off the Golden Mile. Many of these become the focus of attention at New Year’s Eve, when elegant cotillion celebrations continue into exclusive nightclubs such as the Puente Romano’s Suite. Wherever they are, crowds will flock to Marbella’s Orange Square to ring in the New Year in traditional Spanish style by swallowing a grape with each strike of the clock, or head for the Golden Mile beaches to see the fireworks set off from nearby Puerto Banús.
