Setting
Bordering exclusive residential zones such as Los Monteros and Santa Clara, El Rosario is situated a few kilometres east of Marbella, and roughly between its eastern confines and the local shopping and dining hub of Elviria. Like many of the best areas in Marbella, it is divided into a coastal and ‘mountainside’ part, with the former made up of medium to large villas in a beachside setting along some of the best coastal stretches on the Costa del Sol. From its slightly raised position the inland part of El Rosario enjoys fantastic golf, sea and mountain views – as well as an ideal combination of leafy residential privacy and easy access to all amenities.
Amenities
Thanks to its peaceful setting this area is ideal for family life. El Rosario offers a good selection of shops, restaurants, cafes, a supermarket and a popular German bakery right on its doorstep, with the beach bar ‘chiringuitos’ and fish restaurants just a few hundred metres away. The exclusive beach clubs of La Cabane in Los Monteros and Nikki Beach in Elviria provide an element of glamour that is added to by the luxury facilities and spa centres of the Los Monteros Hotel and the Don Carlos Hotel. Added to the private clinics on the east side of Marbella, just a few minutes away, is the nearby Costa del Sol hospital, while the English International College is right on your doorstep and the German School and Spanish Ecos Colegio also within a short commute.
Leisure in El Rosario
Golfers have three first class courses right on their doorstep: the Marbella Golf Club, Santa Clara Golf and the Río Real Golf Club, all of which rank among the finest in the region. As you travel a short distance outwards, many more excellent golf courses are added to the list of opportunities, while the area is also home to some excellent tennis and paddle clubs. Lovers of hiking and mountain biking can venture into the nearby hills, with wonderful nature to be enjoyed by ramblers and equestrians along the trails that lead towards the country village of Ojén, and if you prefer the beach this part of Marbella is endowed with its finest beaches, including the protected Artola dune system with its pretty umbrella pines. They extend towards the charming little marina of Cabopino, also just five minutes from your doorstep.
Villas, townhouses and apartments in El Rosario
First developed in the 1970s and 1980s, both the beachside and inland parts of El Rosario are well-established, so if you buy a property here it has guaranteed views and lush, mature gardens. Most of the villas are medium-sized, but there are also large expansive properties and smaller bungalows to be found. In fact, it is one of the few parts of Marbella where the latter are still available, and many provide excellent opportunities for renovation and investment. The California setting and lifestyle enjoyed here makes it very popular, above all among families who enjoy a peaceful setting close to everything.
